Superman, aka Clark Kent, was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster and first appeared in Action Comics #1 (cover-dated June 1938, but published April 18, 1938). Born on the planet Krypton and given the name Kal-El at birth, Superman has sallied forth into media as far-reaching as radio programs, books, movies, television shows, and even theater. Ages 8 & up.
